It is easy to get into a routine way of doing tasks and feel hesitant to change that routine over time; however, there are tech solutions that you can easily adopt to make your law practice run smoother and more securely. Stephanie Gallagher provides a few tech tips to improve your productivity in her article for Lawyer Marketing.
If you are someone who works on-the-go and frequently uses public WiFi at hotels and coffee shops, Gallagher suggests that you may want to consider a virtual private network (VPN). A VPN is a secure way to access a private, company server through remote, public networks. This is an inexpensive solution that will give you the peace of mind in knowing that your client’s information is safe.
Another device that can be great for the lawyer on-the-go is a smart watch. From a smart watch, you can quickly and easily keep track of your professional and personal schedule, notes, and more by just looking down at your wrist.
As the phrase goes, “there’s an app for that.” Many websites have now created mobile apps so users can easily access their service from their mobile phones. If there are websites you frequently use on your computer or the browser on your smartphone, check to see if there is an app available for that website. It can, at times, be frustrating and time-consuming trying to navigate a website in your mobile browser and apps often make it a lot simpler. For example, Gallagher states that Thomas Reuters Westlaw has a free mobile app so you can quickly do research for your cases wherever you are.
